Dear Chris, I had been wondering how you had made out with your son's latest tests. I'm sorry to hear his levels are still off and that you are, understandably, frustrated and confused. Sorry, I don't have any light to shed on the situation, but I was just curious about a couple of things. Is he a salt-waster? (I'm sure you've mentioned it before, but I don't remember.) When was he diagnosed with CAH, and what happened to precipitate the diagnosis? What tests did they run at the time of diagnosis? At the time he was under good control (you said, 1st yr.), what was his medication regimen? When you do the blood tests, does your endo have you do it under the same conditions each time (e.g. same time of day, before/after meds, etc.)? Did the physical symptoms of oversuppression (round face, weight gain, etc.) coincide with when his bloodwork started reflecting oversuppression, or were they independent of each other? I thought it was interesting that you mentioned that your son was oversuppressed on the liquid cortef, while most children had exactly the opposite problem---undersuppression. I'm not sure where I'm going with any of this, but your son's continued oversuppression does seem odd. Again, I'm sorry I don't have anything else to offer, but if I come across any articles or information that might be of help, I'll be sure to pass it on. I'm sure it's hard, but try to keep the faith. Whatever is going on, your son seems otherwise to be healthy, happy, and growing well, and for that, I am happy for you. Take care.Carol
