Dear Chris, I'm sure you've checked that the units of measure of 17-OHP from the different labs are the same, but I thought I'd mention that, just in case. I remember one woman on the Board was concerned about different acceptable standards between her doctors in Japan and her doctors here in the US. It turned out the units of measure were different, so the numbers were actually off by a factor of 100. Also, I know you live in MN (I have two sisters in the Twin Cities) and you mentioned that your hospital sends the labs to CA, but it takes a while. It's funny, but we live in CT, and our local hospital sends 17-OHP to be analyzed in MN, at the Mayo Clinic, and last time we got the results back in 4 days! (Blood taken Friday morn., numbers back by Tues.) The Mayo Clinic, obviously, also has a great reputation and our doctor says the lab there is excellent, so being that it's right in your backyard, I wonder if, at least, you couldn't get your bloodwork done there so that it's back more quickly. I realize it may be an issue of insurance, but again, just a thought. We also have a lot of experience with conflicting information: Different tests taken on the same day showing two completely different things; also, test resuts contradicting what is happening clinically. When we added switching back and forth from two different doctors in three months, it added to the confusion. I won't go into all the gory details here, it'll take too long, but if you're interested, email me, and I'll fill you in! CarolCarol
