Thank you for your response. Yes, I too am concerned, but I don't want to give him more Cortef than the dr. says when he appears to be oversuppressed and his blood levels show oversuppressed as well. I am just not sure what to do! He has had his blood tested, not urine. Because he is still in diapers, we were told a 24 hour urine test would require him to be hospitalized with a catheter. As of now, I am not asking for that because I know it will be very traumatic for him. I have heard that ACTH is difficult to get an accurate reading on (which is why many dr.s do 17OHP and androstendione). This next test he will have andro done as well. So far, his sodium (na) and potassium (k) have been in a good range. His blood pressure is fine also. Both his 17OHP and ACTH show oversuppression, as well as clincial signs. I agree with you, and thank you, for your concern about his dose being so low. I have heard so many stories, like yours, where there was a medical error. I just don't know where to look for an error in my son's case. Does your daughter have the 24 hour urine test? Does she have to be hospitalized? Have a catheter? I am not sure if it is a person or a computer that analyzes the blood. The labs are drawn at Children's Hospital in St. Paul, MN. We supposedly have some of the best medical care in the U.S. (But I suppose most cities feel the same way). His labs are sent to Endo Science Lab in California. I believe that is one of the main labs in the U.S. so they must do a significant number of these tests. I just don't know what to think. I am going to check about having his blood sent to a different lab just to double check one time. Thanks again for your concern.
