Carol, I was just about to email you for the details on your "same day, different result" issue. Thanks for posting that. I found it very helpful to read and I bet others did to. A few questions on stuff I didn't understand. What is the LHRH test? Is that to test for puberty? Did you son have signs of puberty or is this a standard test? I don't quite understand the whole "pituatary activity" part. Can the adrenals be suppressed but the pituitary still producing too much ?what was tested?. Isn't it the pituitary that produces ACTH? If so, would my son's ACTH level be high if there was a problem other than oversuppression. (His ACTH is very low). Was your test showing undersuppression at 8.0 value 17OHP? Was the test showing high activity ACTH? (BTW, thanks for the reminder on values, I did double check we were comparing apples to apples with the numbers) Sorry for the additional questions - you are just a font of information - can't resist :) P.S. Taking your and Yong Yan etc's advice. I am going to try to get my son's blood sent to a different lab (Mayo?) just to double check. At his previous clinic the labs were sent to Mayo, and then on to Endo Science. I don't really know why. His endo was trained at Mayo, so I think she would push to have the labs sent there if she had any reservations about Endo Science in Ca. Also, I know they can get the results back very quickly (overnight in one case) but it costs more the more quickly you request the results. Possibly that is why they tell me 10 days. Thank you for sharing your excellent understanding of this maddeningly complex condition.Chris D
