I love it -- this topic comes up all the time on the China Adopt Listservs!! Olivia had an appropriately mushy diaper the evening I got her. Since then she has been constipated. I could feed her a full jar of prunes 4 days in a row with NO results. I can't comment on what the steroids might be doing to her. What helps Olivia is mineral oil about once every two weeks just to get things moving. I try to limit her to 3 cups of milk (about 20 oz) a day. And I try to get at least one sippy cup of orange juice down her each day. Apple juice seems to work better, but she won't drink it as well. Depending on how the day is going, I will try to give her a cup of orange juice with some pulp -- the pulp seems to help. But this must be in a regular cup (hence why the day must be going well) because sippy cups and pulp don't mix. My pediatrician says to remember the P's -- peaches, pears and prunes. A friend gives her 23 month daughter prune juice every day (1/2 juice, 1/2 water). This seems to help her. What has help when she has been real bad is a very warm bath -- this will really help get out pieces that are stuck. Also, when she was younger (under a year) I could lay her on the floor and bicycle her legs. What I have been able to get from the my adoption email is that regardless of how good their diet is, some kids will have problems because there is not enough moisture in the digestion track. Then there are the kids who have the most terriable diets and are as regular as clockwork.JanetD
