Weight gain

I'm in a quandry and would like to hear from anyone in a similar situation. As soon as my 8-year-old son came off the Cortef solution two months ago, his weight shot up. In May he weighed 75 pounds, and today weighs just under 100. A few weeks after the switch, his doctor decreased his tablets dosage by 1/4 (formerly 4 10mg tablets, now 3 a day). The weight not only didn't drop off, but did slow. The last lab results showed everything within normal limits, so the doctor wants to keep the 3-a-day dosage as is. So my question is -- why the continued weight? I was thinking that once the new medication got things leveled off, Keith's weight would return to normal. But it hasn't. Is it something else? His appetite increased at the same time the switch took place, and it's still kind of high. But he is also more active, so even if I attribute some of the weight to increased appetite, it just doesn't seem like a 33-1/3% increase in weight in two months is right. He is also on Lupron for precocious puberty, once a month; do you think that might have anything do to with this? I have scheduled an appointment with a new pediatrician for next Monday, hoping that perhaps the "other opinion" can shed some light on things. But I'd really like to hear from others who've been through this already, or who are also going through it. Thanks so much!! Lynn
