Thanks CAT -- anything informative helps. Keith's pediatrician saw him when the first symptoms appeared (pubic hair at age 4). I pointed it out to the doctor during the four-year checkup, who examined Keith and just said, "Why, you're too young for that, young man," in kind of a teasing manner. That's it. No investigation, no further tests, nothing. My husband has a lot of body hair, and both of just assumed that's why Keith was showing hair at such an early age. Naive, huh? We'd likely never have gotten a diagnosis had it not been for a backup doctor substituting for the pediatrician when we went for a visit this past December, when Keith was 7 and had been in puberty for over three years. So I have no faith in getting a second opinion from the current pediatrician. I'm taking him to a new pediatrician on Monday, hoping to get some input from the new doctor as to Keith's medications. I know that there's a range of normal, and even the endo told us that doctors disagree as to where within the range the child should be. If "normal" is just as good near the lower end of the range, then I'd say let's make sure that's where he is. I don't have my notes with me at the moment, but I think I recall the number he mentioned to me as being midrange. Prior to that (before the medication switch), he had been just above the bottom end of the range. I realize that the pediatrician won't be an endo, but maybe she'll be able to advise me what I should do (perhaps she knows of another endo). I'll wait until after that visit before I make any decisions about the next step. Thanks again. LynnLynnG
