Re the Lupron. You are absolutely right. The lupron is given for precocious puberty which is a condition secondary to the CAH. We have been giving the lupron shots now for 7 yrs and will probably be discontinuing sometime during the year since my daughter is now 12. The meds used to control CAH do not control the precocious puberty. There is good info about PP at www.magicfoundation.org. As for the weight, I wish I knew the answer. My daughter has been fighting it for YEARS. My husband and I were both naturally thin as children as was our son. I can't believe she is genetically predispositioned to be heavy, because no one else is/ever was as a child. Her meds are right where they should be per the periodic bloodwork. I do still blame the meds to a large degree for her weight. It seems whenever the tests indicate she is undersuppressed and we increase the meds, her weight as well as her appetite go up. If you are anyone else out there figure out how to get a better handle on the weight issue, please let us know. Please don't just say diet/exercise. We know that helps, but it just doesn't seem to be the whole answer. By the way, my daughter currently takes hydrocortone and florinef for her CAH.
