Re: son is over a year and still getting up at night!

This is not as unusual as you think, Sarah! Somehow our society got the idea that kids should be sleeping on their own straight through the night, before they can roll over, and the "baby books" perpetuate this; if your child gets up at night, you are somehow "less" of a parent - rubbish! When you "come clean" and admit defeat, you will find many other "closet parents" with the same dilema! I wonder if your son is really hungry or perhaps is just looking for some snuggling? Try and see if a little comfort will satisfy him. If not, perhaps he really is hungry! Try giving him a substansial snack before bed - something that contains some protein, so that it will stick with him longer (PB, cheese, yogurt, etc.). In any case, I wouldn't worry about it (unless you're too fried to deal with it anymore!) - he WILL grow out of it; I don't know many teenagers who still take a bottle at night - this too will pass! I know this is not a popular viewpoint in this country, but it is in many places, and I believe it definately has some validity (yes, I let my kids sleep with me too!) God's blessings!
