Marguerite, Pamela described the actual tests. With my daughter they only did the ATCH. There was a baseline blood draw and then one 60 minutes later. Hopefully it won't take long to get your results. No, you won't know anything the day of the tests. But it could take up to two weeks. Endocrine blood work can be very slow due to what is being done. Hormones are VERY small and VERY powerful. Since they are so small they can be very hard to count. Then you also have the situation where there is so much of one of them that the blood sample must be diluted. This all can take time. But the good news is that these two tests will be very definitive in determining if the problem is CAH. Once the doctor(s) knows the results there shouldn't be any delay in getting your daughter on medication. Good luck with the appointment and let us know what happens.
