My endo and ped always advise NOT to double/triple dose after a shot. You reserve that kind of dose for when they are really sick or running a high fever. While the extra meds do help handling stress, the shot is really not a big stress on the body, and extra steroids do lower resistance. As for the runny nose, the instructions we were told to read before we got the shot at the flu shot clinic said not to take the shot if you have a fever. I would check with my dr first if I were you. We checked before Kristin got her shot because she was on an antibiotic for a sinus and ear infection and they said to take it because she had no fever. The ony difference here is Kristin is much older. Good luck!
