Re: Re: 17 OHP levels - normal range?

Like many things concerning CAH this is a controversial issue.  There has not been enough research done (some, but not enough) to set "normal" levels for ALL people.  My daughter's levels have been under 100 consistently (4 years) and she is not bloated and shows no signs of over or undersuppression.  It depends on the child.  Our ped endo is the head ped endo at what is considered to be one of the best children's hospitals in the country.  He would disagree with your doctor, Tom.  Dr. New has reviewed my daughter's case, as well.  She doesn't normally keep 17 OHP levels below 100, but in my daughter's case, she did not recommend making a change.  I really think it depends on the child.  Some CAH children handle sickness better than others.  I know one CAH child who is the same height and weight as my daughter but their dosages are very different, and they are both doing very well.
