I have been thinking about that.  My 17 year old son goes away to college next fall.  He rarely gets high fevers or gastroenteritis.  But... who is going to watch over him while he is away?  It's definitely time to teach them to care for themselves at this age, but it's hard to let go, and impossible to stop worrying.  Let me know what your endo says.  I have an appt Nov 17, and will bring up the same issue.

Having said that, my 14 year old daughter goes into a crisis situation within hours of contracting anything more than a cold (degrees of salt wasting CAH patients?).  I have watched her go downhill before my eyes in a matter of minutes.  So, how do you teach/entrust emergency care to a patient like that?  She may not be capable of recognizing the emergency, or if she does recognize it as an emergency, not be able to give herself an injection.  What do I do then? I swear the solu-cortef does nothing for her.  It's the salt-wasting!  She needs to go to the ER for a saline IV.

So, Sherrie, let me know what your endo says.
