roberta prestonThis web site has the soft sports medical alert arm band for a child. It comes in pink or blue or whatever color you want - neon colors. I suggest that buy it. The paper insert can get wet - my son showers and baths with it on because the paper has a plastic coating. You can over extra paper inserts so if you move, change doctors, insurances or whatever. But please order one !!! The insurance information is not as important as writing down - Adrenal Insuffficiency - salt wasting. (my children have classical CAH - salt wasting). For a baby give 50 mg solu-cortef immediately and IV fluids. Over age of two - 100 mg of solu-cortef. Again you can not over dose with solu-cortef but if you do not give it - adrenal crisis - dizzy, vomits, blood pressure drops, sleeping too much, lifeless, like a rag doll, eyes dialate, coma, etc. Critical at the hours 6 am to 8am - hormonal surges and cortisol levels elevate; and at night 11 pm to 3am - cortisol levels naturally drop. Always have tylenol on hand or motrin - the little infant bottle run out fast. Do you have the needles and syringes? Do you know how to give the injection. These are questions you had better know. And do you ever leave your child with someone with the solu-cortef. Always have it in the diaper bag and in the car - in case of an accident. If you think the ER or ambulance will have it in time - you are wrong. You need to inject within 30 minutes for there can be brain damage or coma.
Solu-cortef is NOT just for vomiting - it is for a fever, injury or vomiting. Some people think that you only give it if the vomits (repeatly) and can not take the oral dose. This is not true. YOU MUST GIVE IT FOR A HIGH FEVER - IMMEDIATELY.
And then go to the hospital to monitor the blood pressure, sodium levels, fever, etc.
