Genetic Testing in Canada?
11/8/00 10:32 AM
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew if there was genetic testing available here in Canada - and if so, where and how much it might cost. I have been to see an Endocrinologist to try and determine if I have late onset CAH. The dr. did some bloodwork, but refuses to do an ATCH Stimulation test. My husband and I are considering having children, but not knowing 100% that I don't have LOCAH is making me have a lot of second thoughts. I would hate to put any child through what I had to go through growing up. I also have concerns as I had a miscarriage last year (at about 17 weeks) - at that time I was told that the baby was too young to determine the sex. At the time it seemed strange, but now that I've found out about CAH, and LOCAH, I'm wondering if that may have had something to do with it. Anyway, to get to the point - I would like to have my husband and myself tested, if possible, to find out if we are carriers. It would give me a lot of peace of mind. Sorry for such a long post! Thanks for any advice you can give me... Lynn N
