Danny, I agree with you on the first part being strictly cosmetic. In my own daughter's case, as she has grown and we have maintained pretty good control of the CAH, we can see that she may not need the clitoral reduction and I am glad we did not pursue that. As for the other surgery, you say the vaginal opening is not necessary until she gets married. I understand what you mean by that, but what happens when she reaches puberty and cannot menstruate properly? Medically, what about that? That is what would concern me. Maybe you or someone else can explain, because my own daughter may require that surgery. Since she was already 3 when diagnosed and would become so upset when we went to the doctor, we put off that part of the exam because it was not something deemed medically necessary at the time. We will, I am sure, be doing that exam in the near future and I am trying to learn what I can about it now. Thanks everyone for all the good info you pass on here.Kay
