Selena, Your family would think it was absurd if you DIDNT do anything and Damon suffered as a result! They just dont understand all the what if's of CAH. YOU DID THE RIGHT THING! :) As a mother it seems to be our job... our "curse" to second guess some of the things we do for our kids. Having to give a shot and go to the ER is NOT fun. We don't enjoy it and our kids don't enjoy it.... that's why it is Natural for us to question DOING it.... it certainly isn't an everyday thing. I would have done the same... take no chances... be on the safe side. I know there are some kids that can have the injection and be OK. Some kids need the IV. You do what Damon needs. And STILL..... be safer....Don't let family OR Doctors make you feel stupid for caring for/ PROTECTING THE LIFE OF.. your child. When Damon is feeling better... try talking to him about what will happen IF.... you will need more of his cooperation. Not at all easy from a 5 year old!! BUT... maybe if he realizes that the less he fights you... the easier on HIM it will be.... you could get that needle in before the ER trip? Susan PS - How did it go at NIH? How is bone growth.. labs etc...?
