You did the right thing; don't let your family or anyone else tell you what you feel you need to do when your child is sick (I've had DOCTORS that don't know anything about CAH, who have made me feel like a paranoid parent for bringing my kids in). Our instructions are to double when they vomit; if they don't keep it down for at least 30 minutes, give them an injection AT HOME - before we call anyone or leave for the hospital - and then get to the ER immediately. You were right to be worried about the sleepiness; as a mom who lost a CAH child, I can't stress enough how important it is to get them to the ER right away. My own CAH son went from fine to gone within 24 hrs. Do what you need to - what you feel is right - and to heck with what anyone thinks.
