Only once has our pharmacist had to call our insurance company regarding an early refill.  This ocurred one winter when the dose was tripled alot.  Luckily, the insurance co. ok'd the early refill with an explanation.  Each Cortef prescription my Dr. writes is for 90 days with 3 refills.  I always keep an extra on file.  I also always have 6 pills in each of 3 emergency kits (home, car, nursery school), so I know there is a back-up supply.  I never thought of any wording on the prescription that the Dr. could write to account for the extra doses.  I will ask though at the next check-up, because it is a good idea!  Good Luck!
