Our son Jordan is 2 1/2 years old, and has recently begun complaining of sore legs. He is otherwise very healthy, and rarely complains at all (except normal 2 year old stuff!!) We have read that if the cortisone levels are not just right, then bone growth may be affected, possibly causing leg pains. He has had one baseline bone-age scan done, which was normal. It seems to be a constant battle to achieve 17-OHP stability. Every 6-8 weeks he has bloodwork, and the dosages of both Florinef and Hydrocortisone are changed. He is currently on 8 mg of Hydrocortisone suspension per day, which does not seem particularly high, compared to others of his age and size (He was on the liquid Cortef until the recall). We intend to discuss this with our pediatrician (we only see a pediatric endocrinologist a couple of times a year, because we live in a somewhat remote area), however, Jordan is his only patient with CAH, and the true experts are parents, like yourselves! Has anyone ever experienced the leg pains in a child of this age? Does this suggest his dose of cortisone is too high? What would be a wise course of action to follow? Thank you all very much. It is great to be able to have this board for support!Heather
