I know how difficult a decision this is. My daughter was evaluated for surgery just before age 2. We opted for the clitoral reduction and vaginoplasty. The surgeon did have to form inner labia, but I'm not sure if it was skin from the clitoris. My understanding was that in order to mestruate properly and later have sexual relations or bear a child, she would need this surgery. Our surgeon did not pressure us to do a clitoral reduction. Neither did our endo. We made the decision for it because the clitoris kept growing, and to me looked like a mini-penis. I feel we made the right decision. Our surgeon is out of NY University Hospital. Our daughter is 4 and does not remember the surgery. I often wonder what would have happened had she not had surgery, since she has a rare condition of vaginal bleeding without signs of early puberty. She has been through many tests, and it is unexplained. And since it occurred more than a year after surgery, it is not related. We have always explained everything to our daughter in terms she can understand. We prepare her for everything so she is not surprised upon the doctor visit. I wish you the best of luck, and e-mail me if you'd like, to chat or for surgeon's info.Pamela
