Re: CAH child & their immunity

Lisa, Last Oct/Nov/Dec it seemed like Olivia was constantly sick (age 23-25 months). This was before she was diagnosed with CAH (we were in the middle of the process). It seemed like every little cold or runny nose would linger until it evolved into an ear infection or bronchitus. Olivia started Cortef the first week in March. Since then she has caught one bug (high fever) that all of the other kids in her daycare had last April. And right now she has been dealing with a cold for a little over a week. When I took her in for her 2-year check-up last week at the pediatrician, her doctor was amazed that there had been no sick-baby visits in over six months. And this is for a child who is in day care. If one can make an assessment based on these few posts (and from what we see in other kids), I would say that the CAH and the strength of the immune system are two different issues. Hopefully once your daughter gets past most of the teething (causes lots of drooling and drippy noses) and the tubes in her ears and nose get bigger, the illnesses will become less. Good luck!
