herb fisherMy daughter is soon 23y old. She has irregular/heavy/brown menses more than once a month. Also she plucks "terminal" hairs from her lip and chin and elsewhere. Her testosterone is elevated. DHEAS is, too. Progesterone is elevated. LH and FSH are low. She was tested once for CAH and once for PCOS. She has "mild" polycystic ovaries. So far her doctors say "normal" except for idiopathic hirsitism which I read is just baloney. I, her father, and my wife are frustrated.
She must have inherited this from my side of the family. My father and mother took 11 years to have me. They said she had cysts. 3.5 more to have my brother. That's all there is. My father's sister married 5 husbands in sequence and had only 1 baby by the 3rd and it died. My father's 1st brother died suddenly of something mysterious at 22 years. My father's 2nd brother had no kids. My own brother married an instant family and has had no kids, though he did get his wife pregnant once when he took predisone for a case of severe poison ivy. Both my father (born 1st) and his last brother lived long lives in spite of smoking and drinking and eating fatty foods. He was skinny.
I am now 54 and my testosterone had to be measured because of my ED complaints and low and behold it is low! So is my DHEAS. So is my LH and FSH. In fact most everything is low. And once I used to be a real go-getter, but now I am always tired.
Anyway, how can I have a daughter who seems to have PCOS or LOCAH which requires elevated androgens? I can make no sense of this!
