Anne, thanks for sharing your experience. Someone reading about it will tuck that information somewhere back in the brain and be able to retrieve it when necessary!  I ended up in the ER with my 6 year old daughter last month after a vomiting episode.  The injection of solu-cortef did not seem to pull her out of a very lethargic state, which had not happened to us in few years. We were scared!  Anyway, by the time we got to the ER, she popped up in the backseat and said "I don't remember going to THIS doctor!" So even tho I knew she'd be okay, we went ahead and went thru the ER routine. Just a reality check for us as we were becoming so comfortable about handling adrenal crisis situations.  I'm thinking she was just so dehydrated from the vomiting that the IM wasn't able to work as quickly as normal. It seemed to take over an hour as compared to the 10-15 minutes in which we usually see a turnaround.  A continual learning experience...
