Funny you mentioned that. I just went through finding insurance for me and my daughter. My husband is covered with his employee, we are not. We had the option to be on his policy but the cost was out of our budget. We are fortunate enough to be on a program from our state called BCMH. It is a program that picks up the remained of our medical bills for our daughter. To qualify you can't make a certain amount of money, or too little of money. And you have to have health insurance, just to mention a few of the qualifications. There also is a program for parents that have no insurance and are on a low income, I believe. I am from Ohio by the way. Perhaps call your local health department to see if there are any programs available to your child. When my daughter was born and diagnosed at birth, our local health department was automatically given my daughter's name to assist with her medical condition in our area. It is a public service to everyone. They then put the family in touch with programs available for a child in need of future medical attention. It is called Early Intervention. They will follow her I believe until she is 18. It is a great system. Anyway, here in Ohio the health laws state that as long as you have proof that your child was covered by a previous insurance company they have to except the child. If your daughter is currently covered by an insurance company, upon cancelling that insurance, that insurance company should automatically send you what is called a "Certificate of Group Health Coverage". It basically states that the following individuals were covered by this insurance company at such and such time and has expired such and such time. It does not state that my daughter has CAH. It just proves she was covered and basically that is all they need to know. Now every state has different laws so I am not sure if this will help. I believe it will.
