Re: Infants on meds

My daughter was on injectable cortisone for the first 12  months. Her endo felt that was better since babies are known to spit up alot and he wanted to make sure she always had it on board. We gave a shot every other day. After a short while she didn't even mind them. Got a little rough when she got older but then we went to the liquid. I can't believe now that we did that but it became part of our routine. Thank God we did give her shots. She became very ill when she was just 6 weeks old with some GI thing-vomitting and diarrhea. (Weird that she picked that up since I quit my job and hadn't even taken her out anywhere yet, except to the doctor.) I had the same problem a lot of people on this board had in that the ped. on call said to wait and see if she would improve and give her lots of pedialite. Well she was nursing and didn't like pedialite for one thing and I felt she wasn't getting better and she needed help immediatley.  I called her endo who is wonderful and he met us at the hospital. She was in and out of ICU for 16 days. It certainly makes me more comfortable if she needs a shot now. She is now 2 1/2 years old and doing great. Congratulations on your little girl and know that we are always here if you need anything.
