Julia had her surgery when she was 5 years old.  She is now 8 1/2 and doesn't remember it.  I can't imagine having to deal with diapers, but trying to keep her from running around when we got home from the hospital was a job in itself.  I think she only took some tylenol when the stitches were tightening up, other than that there was little pain once we were home.
