Besides the genetic testing, it is recommended that the family members get the 60-minute cortisol challenge test. The test is a 60-minut cortrosyn test. Cortrosyn is sythetic ACTH, the homone produced by the pituitary gland to stimulate the adrenal gland to make adrenal hormones. Blood is drawn before and 60 minutes after the intravenous cortrosyn injection. Hormone levesl are measured in both samples. This test is used in both salt wasting and non-salting wasting CAH. The non-salting wasting is more common but hard to detect without this test. I am sure that insurance would cover the test. Our insurance pays. preston@kreative.net
