Exactly what kind of CAH? You say she was diagnosed at birth - was the diagnosis through your state's newborn screening program OR did your daughter have ambiguous genitalia (such as an enlarged clitoris)?? If she should be being treated (on cortef and/or florinef if salt-wasting), and she is not, you are risking maybe having problems down the road (early puberty, menstruation problems, sometimes even fertility problems, male-type hair growth, etc.). Laura made some excellent points in her posting. And if your daughter gets ill (fever 101 or above, ANY vomiting, broken bone) - problems can present pretty quickly, seizures, shock, low blood glucose, coma, death can occur. Even an ear infection can be hard on them. There are several of us who have had a CAH child die (including myself).Anne
