Re: Infertility

Cindy, my husband and I suffered through years of infertility. The doctors kept putting ME through all these painful proceedures only to finally (upon MY insistance) check my husband's sperm count. Low and behold (no pun intended) his count was so low they didn't know if we could ever achieve pregnancy. He had a varicoseal which is a collection of veins gathering near his scrotum. It created an excess amount of heat due to the massive blood flow and killed or deformed most of the sperm. He had surgery to correct it but the doctor said he still felt that we would not be able to get pregnant the old fashioned way. I was running out of emotional time, having already gone through several artificial inseminations prior to surgery, so we went right for the Invetro Fertilization. Bingo!!!First time out we were blessed with our beautiful daughter, Rachael. Shortly after (5 months to be exact) we found ourselves pregnant again with my son, Ryan. This time we had done it the fun way!!!!!!Actually, anyway you achieve a pregnancy is a fun way - to me anyway!!!! Try as we may however, we have not been successful in getting pregnant since. Due to Ryan's CAH and many near death situations with him AND with child birth for me, we haven't tried any more IVFs or Artificial Inseminations. I guess we figure if it happens, it happens, let's just have fun!! So, I guess you can say we were a success story since we have two beautiful children even with an extremely low blood count. I will say a prayer for you both and we wish you the best of luck.
