Thank you Jill. That is exactly what I was looking for. Anyone who has a child with CAH should insist that their doctor give them a prescription for this medication. I truly believe that it could make a difference in your child's recovery from a severe crisis or injury. We need to get this information out to everyone so that their children can have the same chance as someone whose doctor gave them the prescription for the shot. I don't mean to be an alarmist, but the facts are clear. Almost all the CAH children who have not survived were never given the shot, or given it too late. In the world of CAH where parents don't feel that they have much control over what happens, let's insist that we have this much control at the very least. My daughter has come down with the stomach virus that's going around and I am just waiting for my son to begin vomitting. I have done my best to keep them apart and have been washing his and my hands regularly. So far so good, but I will not hesitate to give him the shot if he becomes very ill and not quite himself. If I even think that I might take him to the hospital, I will inject him with the solu cortef first. We are one of the lucky ones whose doctors do believe in having the parents give the shot at home if they even think that they might need it. They beleive that it is better to be safe than sorry. I do too. We can go about our lives as close to normal as possible knowing that we have a medication that can help us during an emergency. If nothing else, it is a great comfort to me. My thoughts will be with all of you as we make our way through this flu and virus season. Good luck to you all.LynnT
