When our family went to the Magic Convention last July.  Dr. Sonya Pang mentioned that she is interested in pursuing research in the area of gene therapy.  One thing she mentioned is that she has applied for funding with no luck.  One problem she mentioned is that the research dollars aren't available for disorders that are not considered fatal disorders.  Hopefully someone with the proper resources will be able to do research in this area.
