Very good list. Be specific - Triple oral dose of cortef for a fever over 101 and giver tylenol or mortin - immediately...  and repeat over and over to give the solu-cortef immediately in case of fever or vomiting  or diaherra, or injury (serious injury) or surgery.  Do not wait. You can not over dose on cortef during physical stress like a fever but if you do not give IMMEDIATELY - adrenal shock can happen. Coma and death.

Give the tylenol on schedule - 4 to 6 hours for tylenol; 6 to 8 for mortin. Buy the infant tylenol for a baby under one year. Have the children's tylenol and know the amout to give based on weight. Give the correct amounts. Write down the time given and wake the child for medications.  I read one message that the parents didn't want to wake the child to give the meds.. it would wake everyone up in the house. Well... the child can die in their sleep (coma) so really think about it. And not giving the cortef on schedule in playing with fire too!! Cortef in not long lasting.. and during fever or illness it is needed every six hours. Write down the time you give the injection or triple amount... set your alarm clock for the next dose (6 hours from the last dose). Give it no latter what or how you feel about waking the child.  Wake the child and give the meds!! Your child is depending on you!!

PENS (ped endo nurse's society) has a great pamplet with pictures on how to give the solu-cortef... it shows the needle and syringe sizes.  They also have instruction sheets for the meds and when to give it (for fevers, vomiting, etc).  I only have hard copies.  email and I can mail you a copy. The NIH web site has instructions with pictures. I have posted it several times. Print it out and carry it with the meds. preston@kreative.net
