LisaHello, I have a 7-month old daughter with salt-wasting CAH. We DID find out through the newborn screening that she had CAH, but we knew something was wrong with her the minute she was born, because we were told we were having a boy, and after she was born, you could tell something was wrong.
1. I beleive it took 2 days to get the test results back, because I knew what she had before I left the hospital.
2. She was born on a Sunday, so they did the test the next day.
3. I do not believe any other tests were done. The endo. was pretty sure that she was going to have CAH before the test results came back.
4. I know of a false/positive test result happening to one person.
5. We found out the results before I went home from the hospital.
6. No.
I hope I have helped you out. I hope your state puts CAH on its newborn screening. Every state should have it on their newborn screening, it would save lots of time and money. Not to mention all the heartache the parents go through trying to find out what is wrong with their sick children. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!
