I am pretty much in the same boat as Laura.  My daughter was mistaken for a boy at birth and we chose to have genital surgery for her.  We don't feel that she was mutilated in any way.  We make the best decisions for our children that we can and hope for the best.  I have to say that all the negative remarks on the board about genital surgery have concerned me, but I realize that only the bad news shows up on the board.  Sometimes, I would love to hear about the women who are happy.  Are you out there?  And Laura, you made the right choice for your daughter.  With your love and support, she will grow to be a wonderful person.
