I believe that the surgery done today is nothing like they did in the 1950's or 1960's, I don't advocate having someone's clitoris removed and I don't think a surgeon would even consider what they did to you today.  My first surgery wasn't a success it was done in 1964 where there wasn't alot of knowledge and it was experimental at that time, it isn't experimental now because it has been done over and over again and the techniques are much better.  I did need therapy for the psychological damage done by not feeling normal at all, the fact I knew that my genitals were very unusual didn't help me at all.  If  I lost any sensation it was worth it because it made me feel like a woman instead of feeling like I was somewhere in between.  I am an advocate of these little girls living the best type of lives that they can and if the surgery can help them grow up without feeling uncomfortable about who they are.  I think just as you have your right to opinions about what has happened in your life, I think I have my right to let these mother's know that it can turn out ok in the end, because all they want is for their kids to grow up like any other kid
