CarolI've found out just a little bit more about the Inject-ease, nothing final. Maybe Liz will be able to get some more info today, when she talks to her pharmacist.
First, unfortunately, the inventor who visited my daughter's class did NOT invent the Inject-ease, rather a hypodermic needle with a retractable tip (so as not to poke anyone after the shot is given), but was very helpful anyway. He helped me determine that it is actually manufactured by the Palco company, not Eli Lilly, as I originally thought. (I guess Lilly would be considered one of the distributors instead---got to get my business-ese straight.)
I did speak with the products person at Palco. She said the Inject-ease has only the 3 diff. tips I'd mentioned before. Though it accepts most brands of hypodermic needles in those sizes, it does not accept all (some have a wider flange and will not physically fit.) She also told me she knows of two similar products made by other companies. She couldn't tell me the companies but one is called the Injecto-matic, the other the Mono-inject. It would be interesting to find out if either of these two devices will take needles with a longer tip (and what brands of needles?), so as to address the IM issue.
Anyway, that's all I know for now. If anyone is interested in looking into this further, please feel free to take this info and run with it. I am interested in the resolution of this issue, as well, but am going on vacation tomorrow, so won't be able to delve any further for at least another week and a half.
P. S. Nice to have you back online, Liz! How are the kids doing?
