My goodness, folks, it's only a word!!!  With so much misunderstand or lack of understanding about CAH, we would be much better served to stop fighting these battles of symantics and concentrate on continuing to share information and knowledge from whatever source!

My own daughter was born with ambiguous genitalia, but was pronounced a girl at birth with an unusual amount of "swelling".  Finally she was diagnosed at 3 yrs of age, put on medication and at that point her clitoris stopped growing and she "grew into it".  She may face vaginal surgery this summer.  We will know more after she sees a urologist in June.

Frankly, you can call my daughter by whatever name you choose.  I am raising her to know who she is and to be comfortable with and proud of the young woman she is becoming.  If our girls see us upset by a name, what message does that send them?  My approach is that sometimes the same thing can be called by multiple names, but it does not change what it is - so why be so bothered by a name?

I am sorry, but for all the good information available on this board and all the support given to one another, some of you are missing it completely worrying about labels.  Let's support one another instead of getting into these somewhat heated battles.  Together we can do some good - divided we only hurt one another.
