Susan A.Carol - I wanted to respond to a previous post on page 2 where you asked me some questions. First - my brother still has not been diagnosed. He is now on some type of disability from Boeing - because he can't function at work with the headaches. Unfortunately he is not paid - but he hasn't been fired yet either. My sister-in-law said he hasn't been to work since June 19th. Wow! They are worried about losing their house though. He took some of my dex for 5 days and didn't have any headaches - but as soon as he quit they came back (he's sick of taking ANYTHING since he's been on a myriad of pain pills, migraine pills, beta blockers, etc for the last 2 years).
Also, would it be possible to send me links to some of the articles on Dex elixir? I see my endo the end of August and I would like to switch over to the elixir. I am currently taking .5 one day and .375 the next. I have started on Fosimax because at my last bone density test in June I have lost 7% of density in my right hip due to steroids since my last test two years ago. I didn't seem to have any side effects to the Fosimax besides a headache.
Another of your questions was am I seeing signs of increaded hyperandrogenism. I have noticed that my rosacea on my cheeks (which I blame steroid use for) is worse on the lower dose and that my face is breaking out a little. I am not having any extra hair growth. My weight seems to have leveled off. I'm actually surprised I haven't gained because I have been eating a lot of nuts between meals to keep my blood sugar stable - it's been working well.
As for worrying about diabetes - I was tested last fall because I was having a lot of problems with hypoglycemia since I was under a great deal of stress. My endo thought I might have a pancreatic tumor - fortunately I didn't. He did send me to a diabetic counselor and she talked to me about what foods in what amounts I should be eating and avoiding. The only thing I have noticed with the smaller dose lately is that carbs seem to affect me even more adversely than they did. I really have to watch them or I'll fall asleep and then I feel basically drugged for several hours. No fun!
Anyway, I'd love to hear back from you. Feel free to e-mail if you like.
Susan A.
