Re: Re: Overprotective or just being safe?

I'm relieved that someone else feels the same way I do. I have repeatedly asked the endo if I'm being too overprotective and he assures me there isn't such a thing. My daughter is 3. I tried to go back to work in the school system when she was 3 months old and it lasted all of 6 weeks. I was miserable. My mother took care of her so it wasn't that she wasn't in good hands, it was just that I hated being away from her. So, I've been home ever since and am so thankful that I am. We struggle but it's worth every sacrifice.

I have a hard time even letting her be around other children for fear they might be sick. Especially since many parents don't seem to keep their kids home when thier sick anymore. We are having a vacation bible school at our church and I'm not sure I'm going to let her go. I would, of course, go with her and stay if she did go. I just don't trust someone to notice if she needs a stress dose. I'm proud of the fact that she's only been sick 5 times in three years. Only half of that time required a stress dose. My problem is that when she was 6 weeks old she developed a severe gastrointenstinal illness that kept her in PICU for 12 days and in the hospital a total of 16 days. I know the reason I'm ambivilant about bible school. A couple of months ago we were at a church softball game and she picked up a virus from one of the little girls there. It almost landed us in the hospital so now I'm scared again. So, no I don't think you're being overprotective, just a smart and loving parent. I hope this helps.
