Hi Danny, I find it very interesting that so many CAH carriers have similar reactions with meds and/or alcohol. I, myself had to be given 24 injections in my epidural during my daughter's birth. With my son's birth they were unable to keep me numb for longer than 3 - 4 minutes. This proved to be a problem because I had to have an emergency C-section. OUCH!! I also "wake up" during surgery (at very awkward moments I might add) and have had to have 8 shots of novicane to fill one tooth since I was a child. Now they give me a shot of eppi as well. During my daughter's birth the entire anesthesia department at Yale was in my room and they said "nobody wants to go home until we figure this one out". They never did. They said there is no name for what happens to me. I had to come up with something that would explain it in a way people would be able to understand. I came up with "hyper-metabolise". As a teenager I can remember many times when I would be chewing gum and something exciting or anxiety producing occured and the gum simply disolved right in my mouth. It was as if my saliva had become acidic or something. I remember on Danette's board several people had mentioned an unusual reaction to alcohol. This is yet another symptom that will be going on my "symptoms of carriers" list. Have you had any other oddities like this? How about anyone else? Any good stories? You can post or email me.LynnT
