Re: scary close call for me: prednisone and nursing question

Thank God you're still here, Julia! Wow - scary for all of you, I'm sure. To answer your question: I was on Prednisone for a short time after my CAH daughter was born (for a massive ear, throat infection that I was unable to fight off because of a suppressed immune system, due to being on dexamethasone for 9 months - LONG story!). I took it for almost a month after her birth, and continued nursing her with both my specialist's and her endo's OK. I continued to nurse her until she was 2, and there were no side effects as far as I can see; her levels are, and always have been, fine, as is her growth, etc. One non-CAH thing I would watch for: severe allergies tend to run in families (oh, yes!), so you will need to be extra diligent with your daughter and any other children in this area. Hope this helps! God's blessings.
