Laura -- you got the right person! Olivia is not a salt-waster to the point where she needs additional medication. Though her ped endo keeps a VERY close watch on things. I even have some things I want to discuss with the dr at our next appointment (major salt craveings). My daughter was diagnosed and started on medication at 15 months. Based on the information that Dr. Pang presented at MAGIC, it is just that most salt-wasters will have a crisis within the first two to three weeks. I'm sorry I didn't write down the specifics -- but on Dr. Pangs chart there were a fair number where the first salt-wasting crisis (and hence indication of CAH) occured later. Dr. Pang did not indicate that those who had the crises later (e.g. at 30 days) had a "mild" form of salt-wasting. Amazing? Yes! Knowing what I know now, and seeing how my daughter reacted to illness before and after her diagnosis, I KNOW that God was with her, otherwise she wouldn't be with me. (I also beleive my mother was her guardian angel -- Mom died on Nov 21 in the US and Olivia was born on Nov 22 in China -- with the 12-hour time difference this was almost the same day). I hope all goes well for the new little guy!JanetD
