I believe life becomes more easier as the children get older (not that mine is much older).  They can manage their own medicine and let you know exactly what is bothering them when they are sick and you can better tell exactly what they need.  My 9 year old daughter is on growth hormone therapy and sometimes gives herself her nightly injection.  Amazing!!!!  She seem so much more mature than her older sister ( but still acts like my little girl).
