ShaunP.How can this board be considered a support group if we start banning parents of CAH children from the board. We are all adults and can make up our own minds if someone has been 'offensive' in the context of an arguement. I do not see the point in banning someone and then making up rules.. I have no idea at all who this 'person' or 'one eyed monster' is but I find it hard to believe that whatever 'supposed personal' attacks took place were unprovoked and one way. I come from Zimbabwe where we have a President who condones political violence against anyone who opposes him be it murder, beatings, rape, distuction of property, land occupation and press censorship by bombing the presses.
Here we are part of a group that is supposed to be supporting each other. We all come from different backgrounds, countries and cultures and it is going to be impossible to be a homogenous group with the same views and beliefs that seems to be the aim here. Hopefully we will see more parents from developing countries who's children somehow survive because young doctors train in Europe or the US in the coming years. Do you think a parent from Egypt or Iran is going to find some of the topics on this board easy to deal with. If they are unlucky they will find that their government has made the decision to ban this web site because it is 'offensive' as it has been decided the 'one eyed monster' has been 'offensive'. How else can I read this whole mess as anything but inappropriate censorship that has taken place on a board hosted in a country where freedom of speech is king and rightly so. I am not in a position to make up my own mind on what went on last week.
We are all free to read and respond to any post and we are also free not to read or respond to any thread. I do not read all the posts because I feel I have nothing of value to add to many problems parents are seeking SUPPORT FOR. There is to much defensive posting that is of no informational value to someone looking for solutions and impartial information with which to make an informed decision.
CAH parents come here for support. They will not always be happy contented people but will more than likily been balancing on an emotional trip wire. If they are pushed off,the destination is not a place to enjoy. I presume Danny this is the very reason you set up this board. This board is place where people should understand each others problems and can get support and information they cannot find outside their front door. We do not have to always like each other or agree with each other but we are big and ugly enough to censor ourselves.
Danny, if you want to be a referee just end a threat by posting 'the end' and everyone wanting to slag each other off can e-mail each other.
I think it is outrageously 'OFFENSIVE' to ban any parent who needs all the support and information this board has built up through hard fought experience from taking part in it. This 'one eyed' monster cast out to some leper colony may have some information or insight into a problem my son has in the future but he will not benefit from. The many parents who were adult enough at the time not add to the thread or were 'saved' by your censoring this apparent 'offensive' drivel are also deprived of any useful information from the leper colony somewhere in cyberspace.
A red card or yellow flag is only legal in a game with rules and I was aware of no 'rules' governing this board until I found out someone was banned. In Zimbabwe the opposition party(Movement for Democratic Change) members carry a red card in their wallets or purses to symbolise their oppostion to the government and what they hope to acheive by democratic election. Anyone caught by government thugs is beaten or raped. Will our 'one eyed monster' be so treated at a Majic Convention.
No doubt many of you on the board will think I am over reacting and missing the point. Please think about the basic principle here. The 'one eyed monster' should be allowed on this board because as a support community we are capable of letting people know when they are out of line. If we start banning people and having a selective membership we are no longer a useful support community and before you know it will no longer exist in this location.
HIGHLY 'OFFENDED'
