That is odd Diane!?!? Wow, did he say what the odds were? They must be staggering. Could it be that there was a sort of mutation in your son's genes on your husband's side? Where did you get your DNA done? I don't know if you know this, but even at Cornell, where they do extensive DNA testing relating to CAH, they only test for the most common 7 strains in the standard CAH test. My husband has a very rare form and we couldn't find it at first. They had to retest and add some of the rarer strains inorder to identify it on his DNA. We were told that in most all cases of CAH (with the exception of a mutation) at least ONE of the parents on BOTH sides had to be a carrier. In other words, one parent from each side of the family must present with the CAH gene. They don't have to be the same type of CAH though. If anyone finds a severe flaw in my understanding of their explanation, please feel free to correct me (gently) LOL.
