Two different kinds of stem cell research

The one that I had in mind was one that I have looked into somewhat and that a friend of mine has accessed for her child with nuero blastoma cancer. It is when parents of new born babies donate the core stem cells from the placenta (?) and they are frozen for future cross match and use. This is NOT a proceedure where anyone dies. I think that this is a good in between for now and can be greatly improved upon. I am in no way an athority on this subject, but found it to be quite promising for the future treatment of most disorders/diseases. I am hopeful that there will be a better way in the near future. We do have to be cautious with how far medical research goes.
