Chris DMy guess is that you are not alone in your concern about the long-term effects of taking hydrocortisone. One reading of the info sheet the pharmacy attaches to the prescription is enough to scare anyone! HOWEVER, in theory, there should not be long term damage from treating CAH with hydrocortisone because it is simply "replacement" for the cortisol the body is not able to make. I have asked several dr.s about this and they all reassure me that replacement level steroids will not have long term side effects. That said, the key is to find what dose is "replacement". As you will find, with CAH that can be a challenge.
Hope you keep visiting the board. You will learn more than you can believe her.
