Sergio, Welcome to the board! My daughter is 16 months old. When she was first born we took her to Children's hospital in San Diego. Phone number is 858-576-5999. She saw Dr. Gottschalk, a ped endocrinologist for the first 4 months of her life. (Then we found a doctor closer to us.) He is very busy but I think they found another doctor to help ease his load. We were treated well there but were not told of the injectable cortef that can save my daughter's life. Make sure you have this, know how to use it, and when to use it. I can give you some info if you don't know about it. Let me know. She was seeing a Dr. kaplan, ped. urologist, who was going to do her surgery. He comes highly recommended from several people in the medical community of San Diego. Children's Hospital can refer you to him. (We have since decided to wait on the surgery. She is not severely affected and much research suggests that the surgery has better outcomes when done later in life. Even then, we will only have the labia seperated just before puberty and will leave the decision up to her whether she wants her enlarged clitoris surgically altered.) This is a very difficult and personal decision. One which needs to be evaluated individually for each girl. Some doctors say surgery can be successfully performed as young as 2 months. Many surgeries are done in the first 2 years of life. Good luck! I fyou have other questions let us know!
