My daughter takes 1/4 in the am, 1/4 in the afternoon, and 1/2 in the evening. She is within the normal range but at the low end. She is 16 months old and at the 5th % for height. When we switched from the upjohn suspension to the pill she changed from 15-20th% to the 5th and has stayed there ever since. She is growing but I worry about that drop. I would love to reduce her dose just a little to allow for growth. I wrote an email to upjohn asking and pleadind for a smaller dose pill even 2mg would be great! I got an email back about a recipe that they do not endorse but that people have had good results with. To be honest any syrup scared me. Now I'm seeing the wisdom of a pharmacy made syrup. The problems we get our prescriptions 3 months at a time, it's cheaper. We also live in a very remote area where going to the pharmacist every week would be hard, but possible. The other problem is taking any trips, backpacking etc would be almost impossible with the sryup. By the way, the 5mg cortef pills we get ARE in fact scored to be cut in half. If they break is WAY off I throw them out. But if they are just a little off then I know that her daily dose is 5mg and she is still getting it with the way her doses are. It's very frustrating. How hard is it to make a smaller dose pill? Grrr.
